“It’s a very difficult time for the African American community in America,” the senator said.
“And I think it’s an important time to recognize that there is a lot of anger and a lot more work to be done to bring some sanity back to our country.”
Warren also slammed Trump’s remarks that former President Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. and that he was not a U.N. ambassador.
“He is not a true American,” Warren said.
“He was not even born in this country,” Warren continued.
“He’s got a very different view of what America is.”
She added that Trump’s comments are “a dangerous distraction” from his efforts to address economic challenges.
Trump has called Warren a “piece of crap” and called her a liar during his presidential campaign.
Warren has criticized Trump in the past for suggesting that he might release his birth certificate in an effort to prove his eligibility to be president.
During a Senate floor speech earlier this year, Warren took aim at Trump’s assertion that he had not been able to release his records.
