A new study out of Brazil has found that Americans are consuming more rice and more expensive rice than people in many other countries.
In the study, researchers surveyed nearly 4,000 people across the U.S. and Brazil who were in their late teens and early 20s and found that nearly half of the respondents (47%) reported that they had eaten rice at least once in the past year.
But the rice consumption rates in Brazil were higher than those in other countries, including India, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
Rice is a staple in the diets of many people in Latin America, but it is not consumed in the United States.
